Abstract
The purpose of this study was conducted to investigate the relationship between elementary school student¡¯s depression and social support, self efficacy, school adaptation. Data from 410 elementary school students residing Chunam Yeongi area, Daejeon city area were analysed. The data were collected through questionnaires, and the collection period ranged from February 10th to 21th, 2005. The instruments used in this study were the Kovacs Children¡¯s Depression Inventory(CDI) which was modified by hoo seob Sim(1989), and Social Support Scale developed by mi hyun Han(1996), and Self Efficacy Scale developed by jeon wen Cha(1997) and modified by gye hwa Shim(2004), and School Adaptation Scale developed by myeon nee Kang(1999) and modified by tae hyopn Lee(2004). The data was stastistically processed through mean, standard deviation, t-test, Pearson correlation coefficient. The results of this study were as follows: First, The mean score of children¡¯s depression level was 10.10. The percentage of elementary school student¡¯s depression who show is 38.54% . Second. in the analysis of depression, social support, self efficacy, school adaptation, there was no significant difference between gender, location. family type. Third. the relationship between depression and social su--pport, self efficacy, school adaptation showed negative correlations : (depression beween social support(r=-.450, p<.01). depression beween self efficacy(r=-.419, p<.01), depression beween school adaptation(r=-.480, p<.01)). From the above results, it can be concluded that decreased of elementary school students of depression is necessary to improve social support, self efficacy, school adaptation.
